2. Our oldest daughter moved to Canton Georgia eight months ago and we miss her more than words can say.

Looking forward to seeing many old friends! I am still teaching at McDowell HS in Marion, NC. (Sociology, psychology and debate.) Including Kenmore, I've spent 40 of the last 43 years in high school, so you know my brain is somewhat warped and addled. Linda & I live on a small hobby farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, in a county which is 90% forested. Have traded in the BMW motorcycle for a Miata in my old age, and enjoy taking scenic outtings in search of ice cream or fruit in season. I enjoy movies, music, reading, working outside, hiking, and Tae Kwon Do, which I've dabbled at for the last twenty years. Linda retired from her teaching career a few years ago, and is enjoying her days - traveling, train riding, and singing in the church choir.

Kids have all married and left home. Ellen (31) lives in Kassel, Germany, with her daughter Caroline and husband Jens. Glenn (28) is a teacher and lives with his wife on the next ridge behind us here in Dysartsville, NC. Karen (25) lives with her husband Chris in Havelock, NC, near the coast, and teaches in New Bern.

My parents still live in Kenmore, where they moved in 1967 as I started high school there. I keep in touch with several classmates, and also with our former librarian John Harper, who continues to enjoy a long and happy retirement. I am saddened by the state of our nation, increasingly distracted by angry kooks who want to "take their country back" and fantasize that nostalgia is a strategy. I hope we can come to realize that a rich country needs to make wealth, manufacture things, and put away the smoke and mirrors before we are totally backrupt. We close 30,000 factories, borrow money to buy imports, and then act baffled when we have a "jobless recovery". If our school was any good, surely we're not that stupid!

I write books about the Bible and Christianity. I target non-Christians and Bible newbies. I’ve been freelancing full-time since 1994, after about 20 years of writing and editing newspapers, magazines, books. One of my books that’s showing up these days on book racks in airports, truck stops, and drug stores is the Complete Guide to the Bible. It’s cool seeing it there, where my target audience lives. My wife is a nurse. Our two kids, Becca and Brad, are married and live nearby. I didn’t allow dogs when the kids were young. Now they each have two and my wife has one. Working out of a home office, I sometimes end up watching all five. Karma.

I missed out on nearly everything because I worked in a Sohio gas station most evenings after school, for a buck an hour. But I do remember running in a track meet before I got the job. I was on the B team, to help block runners from the other school. I heard some gals yelling my name and I ran past both runners, including the guy on our A team. Encouragement does that to a soul.

Rebecca Brown. I don't remember ever even talking with her. But she seemed like such a kind and gentle spirit that she left me with a good feeling about the name...which I gave to my daughter.

Year 42 as a Nurse. No longer doing bedside or direct care so this is first time I have gone to work without a stethoscope around my neck. Doing clinical review and utilization management for an insurance company. Never dreamed I would spend hours in front of a computer screen and talking through a headset to end my career but it sure helps the creaky body keep going.

2011- Banner Health eliminated all LPN positions at their hospitals so I took career in a completely different field and entered hospice nursing. Opposite end of spectrum from first job in neonatal ICU in 1974.

2012-Enjoyed the KHS 60th birthday party even though I didn't qualify...kinda like making it past the bouncer without an I.D. check...grey hair gave me street cred. Enjoyed hanging in Akron as a break from summer heat in Arizona.

2013 saw me finally hit the 60 year mark in February and I had a delayed celebration in September with a trip to Oahu, Hawaii. During our vacation we were all surprised on the beach at Sunset Point when Joey pulled out a ring and dropped to his knee and proposed to Megan.
Daughter Melanie and SIL Chris celebrated their 10th anniversary in July.

2014 Returned to Ohio in April for nephew's wedding. Got to experience snow, rain and an 80 degree day all in the same week. Full moon was a bonus for that wedding and was again present in October when Joey and Megan married in a lovely garden setting.

2015 ushered in drastic changes as I contemplated early retirement and was unemployed for the first time in my adult life(except for the Mom experience). Did the math and convinced myself it was not feasible.
Grandson Phillip celebrated 9th birthday in March. New great nephew born in late April. Two nieces celebrated 21st birthdays in April and May. Great nephew in California has just turned 5 and is headed for Kindergarten.

I have been blessed with stable health since my knee surgeries allowed me to stay mobile.

Enjoy keeping in touch with old friends on Facebook and seeing photos of their families.

No travel plans for this year as I have no vacation time accumulated so will have to miss this year's reunion. Hope that all who attend have a wonderful time and have safe travels to and from the event. Best wishes to all from sunny Arizona, my home base for the past 14 years.

Had an accident inspecting a house, broke right leg severely, they tried to save it, but after a year, finally had to have an amputation, due to infection. Doing well now, with new prosthetic, allows me to be pretty mobile once again.
